Antique Sublime Harmony Music Box by Paillard, c. 1885

SOLD

A superior quality Sublime Harmony antique music box made by Paillard of St Croix, Switzerland in c. 1885.

The movement has an Octavo Fortissimo arrangement over twin combs and a nickel-plated cylinder, and plays a selection of 8 popular tunes of the era with a rich, strong and complex sound. The musical movement also features a double spring for longer playing time, a tune indicator, and parachute safety check.

The original tunesheet details the list of tunes, including ‘Echoes of the Ball’ and ‘Gondoliers’ by Sullivan as featured in the video.

This is all housed in a rosewood veneered case with a beautiful inlay to the centre of the lid as well as tulipwood inlay with boxwood stringing.
